Hair Clip Board

I have a fantastically creative friend who made my daughter the most beautiful board to put all her hair clips on

I was soooo impressed with how fantastic the hair clip board came out and the colours are perfect, it gives me more of an excuse to buy little miss more hair clips ;)

Do you have a crafty friend or are you crafty?

Raspberry bush

My nephews came to visit yesterday and one just about cleaned my raspberry bush out. He finds it so much fun to go and pick his own berries and he will pick them even if they aren't quite ripe, they just have to be red .
I almost didn't go out and check the raspberry bush thinking that there was no way there would be any left.
I was pleasantly surprised to find there were heaps of berries 

Cheesecake Slice

I've been experimenting with a few different recipes (experimenting is delicious) with having vegetables in cake... I can almost hear you gasp, how could you ruin a perfectly good cake with vegetables.  Well this one is AMAZING!!! and the best part is you can't even taste the vegetables.  I know this because I have fed it to my nephews (who would never eat any of my cooking ever again if they knew I hid vegetables in their cake) and my friend who absolutely hates even the thought of pumpkin.

so this is the first version of what I call cheesecake slice, mainly because if I tell people it has pumpkin in it they won't try it :P

I forgot to take a picture of the second batch, the second batch I had a lot more evenly spread of the cheesecake topping. I like the first one because you got tangy bites of cheesecake with each bite but everyone else likes the second one so they win :P

Would you eat cake if you knew there were vegetables hidden in them? Do you hide vegetables in cakes?

Beetroot Dip

Little miss tried some beetroot dip and biscuits for afternoon tea...

I think it's safe to say that she loved it, even licked the plate clean..

Do you have a special something that the kids love?

Holiday To Queensland

We had a holiday to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland over the winter this year. OMG it was the best trip ever.  I came back with a tan and a few kgs lighter (which is always good in my books) and I've never had a tan in my life.  I was terribly disappointed when my tan faded within a week of returning :( and I'm back to my normal pasty white.

we stayed in a cabin at the cotton tree caravan park and it was amazing!!! Not only was it great accommodation but it wasn't overly expensive either :)

we did have a little visitor while we were there

this was in the tree just near our little verandah

we did heaps of walking, because the weather was so lovely, why wouldn't you just walk to the shops.  With the weather being at least 10 degrees warmer than what we were used to at home one of the things I had to get was an ice cream

this is a small ice cream from the food works in cotton tree.. It was enormous and really not a small ice cream, the lady did say they were very generous and sure enough the proof was in the ice cream.  I did share a little with bubby, and she loved it too :)

we walked up to the Alexandria Headlands and boy was it beautiful. it was a fair hike but worth every step

we did end up having a little bit of drama and having to fly home and sending my hubby back to get his broken down truck a few weeks later but oh well.

I can't wait for us to go back and visit again

Chicken Soup

I was feeling a bit under the weather so I made some chicken soup.. Surprisingly it wasn't the soup that made me feel better

it was the fact that every spoonful had a little duck pasta

Chocolate Cream Cake

My friend turned 31 this year, (I know we're a bit old ;) )and she came to visit the day after her birthday. So being the good friend I am, I pulled a spare cake out of the freezer that I had ready for little miss's christening, and made it for us for afternoon tea.

I started with some whipped cream, and I made half of it with some cocoa powder to have chocolate cream and a cake and some strawberries.

I cut the chocolate cake in half and added some whipped cream

then some chocolate whipped cream

and then some roasted strawberries (a little sugar on some strawberries in the oven, yum)

put the top on

add some chocolate whipped cream on top

and a little whipped cream too (because, well who really has time to diet these days :P)

then I dipped strawberries in chocolate

and added them to the top of the cake

and you have to have candles for a birthday cake

my friend was surprised :) which is the best part of it all, well except eating the cake. Maybe I should keep cake in the freezer just in case there is a cake emergency ;)

Veggie Patch

the best part of spring is planting new veggies :)

so these are my cherry tomatoes, all are a different type and colour and they all have heaps of flowers growing :D

after last year when the raspberry bush went crazy I decided to make sure it was kept under control this year.  I did come into the veggie patch thinking that something was wrong because the bush was hanging on the ground, it turned out the berries were weighing it down and it needed a little support

there's heaps of berries growing, so far I've picked 20 raspberries and little miss absolutely loves them, so lucky we have them growing it the veggie patch because they are expensive to buy

the final box has a mix of veggies

no flowers yet

beetroot, which has grown massively from all the rain we've been getting

and finally sweet potato which is slowly growing

I can't wait to get some veggies from the veggie patch :)

what are you growing?
